Campground Wedding Complete With a Trip to the Fair, Orange Connecticut

If there is an award for having the most fun at your own wedding, Lindsey and Dan take the cake. This day was truly a celebration of the love they have for each other, and they fully embraced it. From the first time we spoke, Lindsey expressed that they wanted their wedding to feel like a big party, casual and relaxed, with an emphasis on fun. Mission accomplished.

They chose to have their wedding at Camp Cedarcrest in Orange, Connecticut. I love this venue for many reasons, but mainly because it is a blank canvas for couples to do as much or as little as they want. (Who doesn’t love a good bonfire at the end of the night?!) Lindsey and Dan took full advantage of the grounds, having their ceremony at the camps amphitheater, cocktail hour up by the pavilion, and their reception under a huge tent in front of the dining hall.

A unique detail about a wedding at Camp Cedarcrest, is that you can have your ceremony in the middle of the woods. Lindsey and Dan fully utilized this space and gave it a modern twist with their handmade hexagon wedding arch. Guests were encouraged to grab confetti, made from dried flowers Dan had gifted Lindsey over the years, before finding a seat. The processional included ring bearers placed in The Mighty Duck V formation, and flower girls wearing adorable floral dresses. Lindsey’s entrance through the woods was nothing short of enchanting.

The boho woodland vibes continued throughout the reception tent. There were picnic tables lined with macrame table runners, bamboo place settings, and centerpieces made from hollowed out logs and succulents. While guests enjoyed their delicious dinner from the Fryborg food truck, Dan and Lindsey took the opportunity to sneak away to a nearby fair. That’s right, you read that correctly, a fair! Full of rides, games and cotton candy. Not only did this make for a fun getaway, it made for some incredible photos as well!

Once the root beer floats were finished and dancing came to an end, Lindsey and Dan changed into their coordinated silk pajamas, and enjoyed s’mores by the fire.

It would be impossible for me to share this experience without the absolutely incredible work of Emily Kaar. Her photography captured the best moments, and tells the story of their day perfectly. See for yourself! Krista
